Strongholds are hideouts, places to run to. They look like safe places–the fridge, a nap, a drink, church, something I run to instead of God. It slowly turns into a prison that robs me of freedom. Lies put me there–and lies can keep me there. Truth sets us free. We must learn how to renounce the lies and walk into the light. Satan rules over “this present darkness,” while God is light. Walking in the light brings liberty and helps us stay free.

I am married to Karen. We have six children and fifteen grandchildren—so far. I left the church where I was a pastor in Southern California for 25 years and moved to Minnesota in 1995 to direct Lutheran Renewal. Since then I have started many ministries, including a seminary (The Master’s Institute), a network of churches and leaders (the Alliance of Renewal Churches), a young adult ministry (Communitas), a school for young adults (The Harvest Project), and a house church (Lydia House), which meets in our home. I travel some and do a lot of mentoring of young adults and younger pastors. I enjoy writing books and blogs (pastorpaulanderson.com) and doing podcasts (TCWK).
