Originally built as a granary in the late 1800's, this building has undergone numerous renovations. It was first lived in around 1929, after the original farmhouse and summer kitchen burned to the ground. In 1931 the family moved off the farm and it was not until TWFM was given the property that it was used for lodging again. Groups would come here from the Twin Cities and surrounding areas and this use old building as a "Retreat House." The front porch was built on in the early 1970's and the back screen porch was added later. In June of 2004 the Windy Hill Farmhouse went through another renovation.
All new electrical wiring was put in, the screen porch was closed in with real windows and insulated for year round use, the sleeping areas were redone and new roofing was put on the whole building. The Farmhouse is naturally decorated by God's unique Knotty Pine design and is very bright and beautiful. The upstairs is divided into two sleeping rooms, one sleeps nine, and the other seven. We know you will enjoy the "new look" in this old facility.

The Windy Hill Farmhouse homestead is the setting for the award winning mystery novel book series written by our friend, Lois Walfrid Johnson, titled "The Adventures of the Northwoods." There are 10 great books in this series that teach history and Godly character in the early 1900's time period. These are great books for both young and old alike.
